Phonics Book Finder

Schools describe early reading in at least six different languages: Little Wandle phases, Read Write Inc colours, book bands, Oxford levels, Twinkl levels… Pick the one your child's school uses and we'll translate it into all the others — and show you decodable books that match. Runs in your browser, no signup.

The same level in other systems

Mappings are a well-evidenced guide, not a law of nature — schools band books slightly differently, and children don't read in tidy straight lines. When in doubt, your child's teacher trumps any chart (including this one).

Decodable books that match

Free options first. These series publish which sounds each book uses, so they can be matched to your child's level — look for the phase, set or colour on the cover or the publisher's page.

We link straight to publishers and free libraries. No affiliate links, no sponsorship — if that ever changes it will be disclosed right here.

How we built this mapping

Compiled August 2026 from published correlation charts: the Reading Chest book-band and Little Wandle charts, the Bright Light Education reading schemes comparison, and school-published Read Write Inc correlation documents (e.g. Moorhill Primary). Scheme names (Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised, Read Write Inc, Essential Letters and Sounds, Twinkl Phonics, Oxford Reading Tree) are trademarks of their owners; this independent tool is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any of them.
